The Institute for Immunology, Tsinghua University (IITU), established in June 2014, is a university-level research institution jointly initiated by the former School of Medicine and the School of Life Sciences at Tsinghua University. We aim to gradually develop into an important immunology research and talent cultivation base in the Asia-Pacific region through our efforts.
The Institute currently has 14 independent professors/researchers (PIs). The total number of staff at the Institute exceeds 160, including nearly 30 postdoctoral researchers, more than 80 PhD students, and over 30 technical staff. The research scope of the institute covers the major areas of immunobiology and immunology-related diseases.
The Institute places great emphasis on cooperation and exchange with top international research institutions and has invited several internationally renowned experts in immunology to form a scientific advisory board, providing evaluation and advice for the development and construction of the Institute. The Institute attaches great importance to talent cultivation, frequently inviting domestic and international experts to give academic lectures and regularly organizing internal academic exchange activities at multiple levels, providing a vibrant and international academic environment for faculty and students. The Institute has also established a public instrument platform primarily focused on flow cytometry, aiming to develop key experimental technologies and provide a strong support platform for the smooth advancement of research.
In the future development plans, the Institute will continue to attract top-tier researchers from both China and abroad, strengthen the construction of comprehensive research platforms and high-precision equipment, further optimize talent cultivation and research activities, and strive to create a world-class academic environment. Looking ahead, the Institute for Immunology at Tsinghua University will work closely with immunology colleagues worldwide, with the goal of becoming a leading research institution in immunology and contributing to the development of the field in China and globally.
