2025-09-21

On July 3, 2025, the third session of the Frontier of Biomedical Seminar series at Tsinghua University was successfully held in Room B323 of the Medical Science Building.

This seminar, organized by the School of Basic Medical Sciences, featured Dr. Zhu Kui from the College of Veterinary Medicine at China Agricultural University as the keynote speaker.

Dr. Zhu delivered an academic report titled “Discovery of Antibacterial Molecules Based on Bacteria-Cell Interactions.”

Professor Liu Jiafeng hosted the seminar from the School of Basic Medical Sciences.

Dr. Zhu Kui’s team focuses on key issues in the prevention and control of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens in the field of public health. Their work is dedicated to discovering novel antibacterial targets, developing new antimicrobial agents, enhancing the efficacy of host-oriented antibacterial therapies, and creating probiotic-based antibacterial alternatives, providing scientific support for safeguarding human health and the safety of animal-derived foods.

Multi-drug resistant bacterial pathogens associated infections are increasingly becoming the most common infections, coupled with the fact of barren antibiotic development pipeline nowadays, critical approaches are extremely urgent to circuit the dilemma of cross-resistance, and to revitalize the existing antibiotics. Dr. Zhu’s team has achieved significant research progress, offering new scientific avenues to address this crisis.
